Never Gravel Enough

No man's land

CONQUERORS OF NO MAN’S LAND: AN EPIC RIDE IN THE PEAK OF SUMMER We did it again. Once more, we ventured into No Man’s Land on the hottest day possible. Just like last year, we got roasted to a crisp – but no one ever said it would be easy. It was a beautiful, epic Sunday. Huge thanks to everyone who shared this day with us. The longest NGE weekend ride of the year is now part of history. We met in the morning in Skierniewice, ready for a long route through the vast, picturesque landscapes of No Man’s Land. The sun reigned supreme in the sky, and ahead of us stretched an endless road through the wilderness. The first leg of the journey led us through the boundless fields and meadows of the Rawska Upland, past windmills and waves of golden grain. Our first destination was Spała, and the road south seemed to stretch on forever.

When we reached Spała, we stopped for a well-earned break. We set up something resembling a small gypsy camp in front of a store—eating ice cream, drinking loads of beverages, and doing our best to cope with the heat. That moment of rest was absolutely necessary, as the sun was relentless, and we still had a long road ahead.

After a short break, we set off through the beautiful Spalska Forest. This was probably one of the most enjoyable sections of the route—trees provided shade, and the surrounding nature made us feel like we were in a completely different world, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The forest led us to the Pilica River, where another highlight awaited us—a hand-operated ferry. Crossing the river this way was definitely one of the day's standout moments.

The route then took us through the region known as the "Mazovian Tuscany." Picturesque hills and landscapes resembled scenes from southern Europe, even though we were in the heart of Poland. Our next stop was Biała Rawska, where, exhausted by the heat, we once again took refuge in the shade and treated ourselves to ice cream. Fatigue was setting in, but we knew we were nearing the end of our adventure.

The final kilometers led us back to Skierniewice. Despite our exhaustion, the satisfaction of completing the route kept us going. And as tradition demands, we wrapped up the ride with a well-deserved pizza at a local spot, sharing stories and laughing about the adventures we’d had along the way. It was truly an amazing trip—full of challenges, but also moments that made every effort absolutely worth it.

At the end of the day, though completely exhausted, we felt an immense sense of satisfaction. The weather, while challenging us all day long, only added character and an epic feel to the entire adventure. That day, each of us became a true conqueror of No Man’s Land. Because cycling isn’t just about riding a bike—it’s about shared adventures, new challenges, and unforgettable moments spent in great company.
